Grinding bodies

At present time " Victoria"  Ltd. company produces grinding balls with
diameter from 20mm to 120mm in accordance with DSTU 3499-97 standards
in co-operation with a few Ukrainian enterprises.
Balls are made of carbon, low-alloy or alloy steel with content of carbon
up to 0,82%.
The mass content of carbon, with dependency on the group of hardness
and grade of steel makes:
-no lower than 0,40%  for balls with a conditional diameter up to 60 mm
-no lower than 0,60%  for balls with a conditional diameter from 70 to 120
mm.
The carbon equivalent for low-alloy and alloy steel, with dependency on
the group of hardness and grade of steel makes:
— up to 0,75% for balls with a conditional diameter up to 60 mm on
condition that mass content of carbon is up to 0,60%;
— up to 0,80% for balls with a conditional diameter  from 70 to 120 mm on
condition that mass content of carbon is up to 0,65%.
Balls are made through method of thermoforming on a crank-type hot —
forging press, which provides the close structure of balls’ material with
defect-free metallurgical characteristics. After heat treatment, the balls’
superficial hardness comes to 65 HRC, and volume hardness with 0,5 radius
hardness comes in accordance with DSTU 3499-97.
In comparison with the rolled grinding balls made through method of  the
hot rolling on ball-rolling mill, the balls made on hot -forging press have
enhanced wear resistance to attrition. At that an even wear is provided with
maintenance of spherical balls’ form, which gives stable grinding during all
term of balls’ exploitation.
